Eligibility Criteria for LIC AAO

Before applying, it’s essential to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria in terms of age, educational qualifications, and nationality.

1. Nationality: The candidate must be a citizen of India.

2. Age Limit (as on August 1, 2025):

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 30 years
  • Note: Candidates must have been born not earlier than August 2, 1995, and not later than August 1, 2004 (both dates inclusive).

Age Relaxation: Age relaxation is provided for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government norms.

3. Educational Qualification: The educational qualification varies slightly depending on the post (Generalist or Specialist).

  • For AAO (Generalist): A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian University/Institution.
  • For AAO (Specialist): A Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field (e.g., Law, IT, CA, Actuarial) from a recognized Indian University/Institution. Specific professional qualifications are also required for certain specialist posts.

LIC AAO Exam Pattern

The LIC AAO selection process is conducted in three phases: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview.

Phase I: Preliminary Examination

The Prelims exam is a qualifying stage. The marks obtained in this phase are not counted for the final merit list.

Phase III: Interview

Candidates who qualify for the Mains exam will be shortlisted for a personal interview. The interview assesses a candidate’s communication skills, confidence, and personality. The total marks for the interview are 60.

Final Selection: The final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the Main Examination and the Interview. A pre-recruitment medical examination is also conducted for the selected candidates.

  • Understand the Syllabus: Go through the detailed syllabus for both Prelims and Mains.
  • Time Management: Practice with a timer to improve your speed and accuracy. The sectional timings in both exams make this a crucial aspect of your preparation.
