Eligibility Criteria: Are You Ready?
Before you hit that “Apply” button, it’s crucial to understand the detailed eligibility criteria set by the RBI. Meeting these requirements is the first step towards a successful application.
- Nationality:
- A candidate must be either:
- a Citizen of India, or
- a Subject of Nepal, or
- a Subject of Bhutan, or
- a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- Candidates other than Indian citizens will require a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
- Age Limit (as on July 01, 2025):
- Minimum Age:Â 21 years
- Maximum Age:Â Varies by post:
- Assistant Manager (Official Language) in Grade A: 21 to 30 years
- Assistant Manager (Protocol & Security) in Grade A: 25 to 40 years (No relaxation for any category in this post)
Age Relaxation:Â Upper age limit relaxations are applicable for various reserved categories as per Government of India norms. This typically includes:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years (additional relaxation over category-wise relaxation)
- Ex-servicemen: As per government rules
- RBI Staff Candidates: As per RBI norms
- Educational Qualification:The educational qualifications are specific to the posts. Here’s a general overview, though candidates are advised to refer to the official notification for precise details for each post:
Assistant Manager (Official Language) in Grade A:
- Typically requires a Master’s Degree in Hindi/Hindi Translation with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the Degree level; OR
- Master’s Degree in Sanskrit/English/Economics/Commerce with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at the Degree level.
- Candidates with a Ph.D. in Hindi, Hindi Translation or equivalent may receive an age relaxation of two years.
Assistant Manager (Protocol & Security) in Grade A:
- Usually requires a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
- Candidates must be an Officer with a minimum of five years of Commissioned Service in the Army/Navy/Air Force.

The Road Ahead: Selection Process
The RBI Grade A selection process typically involves two phases of online examination followed by an interview.
