India’s space economy is likely to be
worth nearly $13 billion by 2025, with the satellite launch services segment set
to witness the fastest growth due to increasing private participation,
according to a report released .
India’s space economy was pegged at
$9.6 billion in 2020 and is expected to touch $12.8 billion by 2025, according
to the report titled ‘Developing the Space Ecosystem in India: Focusing on
Inclusive Growth’.
In dollar terms, the satellite
services and applications segment would be the largest with a turnover of $4.6 billion by 2025, followed by ground
segment at $4 billion. The satellite manufacturing stands at $3.2 billion and launch services at $1
billion.
Pakistan has confirmed that it will
attend the Shanghai cooperation organisation’s anti-terror exercises in India.
Pakistan, which is a part of SCO will take part in counter-terror drills in
Haryana’s Manesar in October. These exercises will be conducted under the ambit
of the SCO regional anti-terrorism structure (RATS).
A three-member Pakistani delegation
will take part in the meeting in Delhi. While the SCO as a grouping came into
existence in 2001, India and Pakistan became members of it in 2017.
“Mahakal Lok” corridor first phase of
Mahakaleshwar Temple in the city of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, is scheduled to
open by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister
of Madhya Pradesh, examined the Mahakal Lok’s opening preparations.
The “Mahakal Lok” over 900-meter-long
corridor’s first phase was officially opened as part of the $856 million
Mahakaleshwar Temple corridor development project.
The cost to create the corridor was
316 crore.
The old Rudrasagar Lake, which has
also been revitalised as part of the development project around the historic
Mahakaleshwar Temple, will be skirted by the Mahakal Lok.
Two imposing gateways – Nandi Dwar and
Pinaki Dwar – have been erected near the beginning of the corridor, which winds
its way to the temple’s entrance and provides an aesthetic view along the way.
A 108-pillar colonnade with
artistically carved sandstones has been constructed. On the decorative pillars,
artisans and artists primarily from Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Orissa have
laboured.
Union Minister of Road Transport and
Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the 81st annual session of the Indian roads
Congress in Lucknow. He was accompanied by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh
Yogi Adityanath.
On the occasion, he highlighted the
aims and dreams of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make the Indian economy
number one in the world, for which good infrastructure is necessary. The new
ideas and initiatives by the IRC will help India to achieve it.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has
declared Modhera village in poll-bound Gujarat as the country’s first 24×7
solar-powered village. Modhera, which is famous for a centuries-old Sun temple
built during the Chalukya, will also be known as a “solar-powered village”.
Modi, who is on a three-day visit to
Gujarat, will inaugurate various development projects worth more than ₹14,600
crores. Assembly elections in the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled Gujarat are
scheduled to be held by the end of this year.
The Modhera village is located 25 km
from the Mehsana district of Gurajat, and about 100 km from the state capital
of Gandhinagar. The village has a ground-mounted solar power plant, and over
1,300 rooftop solar systems with 1kW capacity have been installed on houses to
generate electricity.

NSIC and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank
signs MoU: The National Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (NSIC), a Government
of India Enterprise under the Ministry of MSME, signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with the Utkarsh Small Finance Bank.
This Memorandum of Understanding with
the banks intends to assist MSMEs with their lending needs.
The MoU was signed in the presence of
Sh. Gaurang Dixit, CMD, NSIC, and Sh. P.R. Kumar, Chief General Manager, NSIC,
and Sh. Manoj M.A., Business Head of the bank.

India and US announced the launch of a
new energy task force to support the large-scale integration of renewable
energy needed to support the clean energy transition. The announcement will
strengthen the India-US partnership in the critical energy sector to new
levels.
There was also a bilateral meeting
between Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri and US
Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, after which the announcement was made.
On the occasion of the 90th
anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF), the Centre has approved the creation
of a weapon system branch for IAF officers. This is the first time since
independence that a new operational branch has been created.
This will essentially be for manning
of four specialised streams of Surface to Surface missiles, Surface to Air
Missiles, Remotely Piloted Aircraft and Weapon System Operators in twin and
multi-crew aircraft.
The creation of this branch would
entail the unification of all weapon system operators under one entity
dedicated to the operational employment of all ground-based and specialist
airborne weapon systems.
India stands at fourth position among
12 countries of the Indo-Pacific in self-reliant defence production, says a
study by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) that
assessed self-reliance in arms production.
China dominated the list leaving
others behind by a long margin. China dominates the ranking, reaching a
self-reliance score more than two and a half times higher than Japans,” the
study by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), a think tank
on global security issues says.
The study covered Australia, China,
India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Taiwan,
Thailand and Vietnam. Vietnam could not be included in the final ranking due to
a lack of data.
Indian Army celebrated the 73rd
Raising Day of Territorial Army on 9th October 2022. The Raising Day of the
Territorial Army is celebrated to commemorate its raising by the first Governor
General Shri C Rajagopalachari on this day in 1949.
On the 73rd Raising Day Lieutenant
General Preet Mohinder Singh, Director General of the Territorial Army paid
tribute to the fallen heroes of the Territorial Army by laying a wreath at the
National War Memorial.
The National Security Guard (NSG) is
hosting the Multinational Joint Anti-Terror Exercise (JATE) under the Shanghai
Cooperation Organization (SCO) Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) at NSG
Manesar Garrison. Stage 1 of the exercise was conducted from 27th July to 1st
August 2022 by the National Terrorist Forces of SCO Members Countries in their
respective territories.
The Exercise aims to exchange
expertise, and best practices, and build synergies between counter Terrorism
Forces of the SCO RATS member countries.
The second phase of the exercise will
be conducted from 8th October 2022 to 13th October 2022.
According to the latest demographic
sample survey by the Union Home Ministry, the survey was brought out by the
office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, Ministry of Home
Affairs.
It was conducted in 2020 and the
report was published late last month. The Sample Registration System (SRS)
Statistical Report contains estimates of various demographic, fertility and
mortality indicators based on the data collected through one of the largest
demographic surveys in the world covering about 8.4 million sample population.
Despite being renowned for its mines
reserves, the state of Jharkhand has earned the disrepute of having the highest
percentage of underage girls getting married. The percentage of girls getting
married before attaining majority is as high as 5.8 in Jharkhand.
Not only Jharkhand, West Bengal to has
enough in its tally as more than half of the women are married before attaining
the age of 21 years in the state.
Agni Tattva campaign: Agni Tattva
campaign to raise awareness under LiFE – Lifestyle for the Environment is now
being carried out by Power Foundation of India in collaboration with Vijnana
Bharati (VIBHA).
The goal of this campaign, which

confirmed that Goa will host the 37th edition of the National Games in October
next year. The state government of Goa also conveyed its in-principle approval
to IOA to host the National Games in 2023.

flag at the Closing Ceremony of the 36th National Games on 12th October 2022 in
Surat, Gujarat.
The 37th National Games will be
decided to keep in view of the dates of the 19th Asian Games, which will be
held from 23rd September to 8th October 2022 in Hangzhou, China.

At the 36th National Games, Pooja
Patel of Gujarat has become the first athlete to win gold in Yogasana. Yogasana
is one of the five sports to be played at the National Games this year for the
first time.
This Indian indigenous sport made its
debut at the Khelo India University Games earlier this year. The word yogasana
is derived from two Sanskrit words, Yuj meaning unite and Asana meaning body
postures.
